As it’s coming up to St Valentines day & my wedding anniversary; I;d like to share this poem by Wilferd A. Peterson – The Art of Marriage. It gives us all a goal to work towards with the one we love whether you have a certificate or not!
Happiness in a marriage is not something that just happens. A good marriage must be created. In the art of marriage the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once each day.
It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with honeymoon, it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values & common objectives. It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation & demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other. It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding & a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive & forget
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit. It is a common search for the good & the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right partner. It is being the right partner.
It is discovering what marriage can be, at it’s best.
I’ve been catching up on The Real Housewives of Atlanta on YouTube. I love it I love it I love it. I really enjoy watching the Bravo TV Housewife series. My favourite city is New York closely followed by Atlanta then the original Orange County. I could really do without the others Miami, Beverley Hills and although Danielle & Theresa are entertaining, New Jersey should never have been opened up to the public.
Now, over here in the UK we get almost all the Real Housewives on Sky/ Cable etc except for … thats right you guessed it the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Thank God for YouTuber Brandon7837 or I would be missing out. I see a lot of comments on how Ghetto these women are & for the most part I totally agree but thats what makes the show so watchable. Just like NY & the OC – ALL these bitches are CRAZY; thats what i love about the shows…. As Luanne sings “Money CAN’T buy you class”
As a British Afro-Caribbean woman I must say it is very disappointing to see the lack of black women on British TV. It would be wonderful if one of these reality shows would show the true diversity that i see & feel in London. Perhaps its too much to expect that they show some intelligent, successful happy black women but I’ll settle for any type. People from other countries watching TOWIE, Made in Chelsea, Scousewives etc must think that 1. There aren’t many black people in the UK or 2. The different nationalities DO NOT mix.
I know it’s not just me that notices this type of discrimination on British TV, my close group of friends practically spans the globe as far as heritage goes but the love isn’t reserved for my Jamaican sisters. I keep thinking that everyone got the memo that skin colour is just that & that alone. Even within the same ethnic groups the colour of our skin is varied …people get over it!!
Ghetto comes in all shades; and so does dignity & class.
To any television producers out there; please take a chance “Black can & does sell”
Jennifer join Kelly at her Miami base for X Factor judges’ week helping her whittle down the 8 contestant to 4.
Miss Rowland is reportedly very strict with her group stating that they aren’t allowed to drink alchol, smoke, talk loudly in clubs or have sex. If i was any of the lucky 4 I would totally listen to Ms. Kelly after all she knows what it takes to get to and stay at the top of your game. I’m tempted to try this myself … maybe I could be more productive in my business. However I’m sure my husband would have some objection lol
After Beyonce’s baby news i thought it would be fun to follow some of my favourite celebs through their pregnancies.
Nia Long, 40 & boyfriend Ime Udoka, 33 are expecting their first child together;
Nia already has 10 year old son Massi jr with Massi Z. Dorsey. I’m sure you will agree Nia carries pregnancy very well … She got that glow!!
Monyetta Shaw & Neyo were pregnant with baby #2 soon after having their first Madilyn who was born 2 months premature in November 2010.
Monyetta owns Emerlyn & Ester boutique in Buckhead, Atlanta. As you can see Monyetta rocks it so hard on the fashion front.
