Traditional English Breakfast

I try to do a little breakfast spread for my family about once a month, my husband works varied hours so we don’t have a typical weekend routine. It’s not much fun cooking for one i.e sunday roasts, cooked breakfast’s etc; so I go with the flow and fit them when I can.

During the cold months my favourite kind of breakfast is a variation of your typical fry up only a little more refined (or so I’d like to think). This breakfast also is a great reminder of when my husband & I were a young childless couple (we’re practically middle-aged according to our son); we used to visit our favourite cafe on a Sunday afternoon after laying up in bed all day recovering from one sin or another ordering from the all day breakfast menu. Not BRUNCH oh no that might involve some healthy choices such as fruit, yogurt..etc an all day breakfast!! Everything is basically fried hence the name “Fry-Up” the plates are ridiculously big & there was no disguise to these heart clogging dishes. I’m ashamed to say i almost always ate it all, at 21 the body could handle it plus it was typically our main meal for the day.

Although my version has a lot less fat & calories than a greasy spoon I think it tastes way better. The ingredients are allowed to take centre stage keeping the vibrant colours & distinctive tastes that make this breakfast truly enjoyable. All that extra grease may have been good for a hangover but not much else.

Alejandro … Lady Gaga’s New video

Ok … So all my friends know that I’m a huge Gaga fan. I love her talent and eccentricity and quite frankly … I like my superstars to be a bit off their rocker! The most talented artist throughout history have always been “slightly mad”.

I have a real appreciation of the creations from “The House of Gaga”; with her ever changing hair and theatrical makeup im sure i”l be making many more post about Gaga.

For now here is a look at her new video Alejandro … i really like this track…what do you think?

Monica… Game 3 of NBA Finals

One of my favourite recording artists Monica sang the American National Anthem at last nights 2010 NBA  Finals (before game 3) between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics; the event was held at TD garden in Boston Massachusetts. Lakers won Game 3 over Celtics with a total score of 91-84; the score is currently 2-1 in the best of 7 games to be played during the NBA Finals in favour of the Los Angeles Lakers.       … Can Lakers win again?

… Any way back to Monica!

She wore skin-tight white pants and a warm creamy coloured jacket with some very sparkly christian louboutin heels.

Monica’s hair & makeup are flawless as always but although im not hating the outfit…. it could have been better. For me, Monica misses the style mark more often than not;… I just wish she made the most of her gorgeous figure… this outfit makes her very unbalanced it would have looked better with a more fitted jacket in order to give her a shape. I don’t want to be mean because I adore Monica’s music and I’ve been a massive fan of hers since “Miss Thang” but honestly she needs a stylist… Just to point her in the right direction.

Love the shoes though!

Here is a look at the performance… What do you think?

M.A.C Cosmetics

As my friends know I luv MAC cosmetics, use them both professionally and personally. They have a great selection of makeup for all skin types and most importantly all ethnicities making it a one stop shop for my clients and I.

First start with a light weight moisturizer like MAC Studio Moisture Fix, it’s water based and contains Shea Butter and Vitamin E in a time release liposome that nourishes the skin all day long, it’s great for all skin types especially Normal to Dry.

Face:Your best investment is a great looking foundation that can even out the skin tone and texture; MAC Mineralized Satinfinish SPF Foundation for a dewy or satin looking finish or MAC Select SPF 15 for a natural Matte finish.

Eyes:  Choose colours that have enough depth to create dimension on the eyes. Mixing textures on the eyes such as a frost texture for your eyelid, and a more matte shade in the crease will give you a truly polished look. Pair these shadows with great brushes and even a beginner can create a perfected look.

If you are a more natural beauty choose colours that are rich, bronze browns or burgundies, remembering that colours that are closest to your skin tone are going to appear more natural because they will have less contrast on the skin. Some suggestions would be MAC eye shadows in Mulch, Mythology or Trax for the lid of the eye. Apply these shades on the entire lid of the eye with a #239 brush. For the crease I would suggest Saddle or Cork eye shadow using the #224 brush starting near the inner corner of your crease and blend out. You can also use eye shadow as eye liner as well! Colours like Sketch, Embark or Carbon make great liner utilizing the #266 brush you can create a long wearing line that gives great definition to the eye and lash line. Add two coats of black mascara to the top and bottom lashes to finish your look.

Cheeks:   An absolute must have is MAC Peaches Sheertone blush it’s a soft kiss of colour that looks beautiful on the apple of the cheek. Using a soft domed shaped brush like MAC’s #129 or #109 in a circular motion on the apple of the cheek will help give just the right application.

Lips:   There are so many options for lips, especially when the eyes are soft and defined. In order to keep things soft try sheer, glossy or frosted shades of burgundies, browns or soft pinks. Some great options from M.A.C are Oh Baby or C-thru lipglass or Spice it Up lipstick. If you want to make a statement without saying a word a bolder lip colour will do the trick.

Top 5 Fashion Must-Haves

Our wardrobes are sometimes stuffed with a chaotic collection of rarely-worn, badly-made and trendy disappointments. It may be time to revisit the building blocks of a great wardrobe, so let me take you back to the basic.

The White Shirt

The long-sleeved, white button-down shirt would be my first choice because you can dress it up or dress it down. Pair it with jeans for your weekend, a serious business suit for workdays, even a full flirty skirt for evenings out.

The Little Black Dress

The “LBD” is a wardrobe classic that still sizzles. The best of them get their allure from their simplicity body-skimming fabrics tailored in flattering lines that focus attention on the female form without overshadowing the woman herself. Never tight or loose, your ideal dress leaves you feeling glamorous yet comfortable, not overexposed and self-conscious. Necklines are negotiable, but go with a knee-length hem in the best fabrics you can afford.

The Black Pants

A well-made business suit would be a great addition to your closet, but if you either can’t afford it or don’t need it, a pair of black dress pants will do just fine. The fit should work with your figure, not against it. Flared or straight cut legs, various rises and different pocket options are all available. Ideally the fabric has a bit of drape, wool blended with a touch of stretch is best.

 The Perfect Jeans

Finding a pair of jeans that fit properly can be the greatness feeling in the world. Preferably, they should be versatile and flattering and able to take you from day to evening; darker washes, without too much embellishment will outlive the fads. If the budget allows luxury denim is a must as they survive the weekly wash better and their extra refinement and details looks appropriate in almost any setting. Mid-rise boot cuts balance out a belly, straight legs work well for shorter women, and jeans with a back rise higher than the front fit a generous booty better.

Classic Burberry Trench

The Classic Coat

From the myriad of stunning outerwear on offer, there are only a few truly timeless styles. The unembellished long coat in cashmere, camelhair or a more affordable wool-blend, will last through dozens of winters. Swing styles flatter every figure, while pea coats are even more trend-proof. Colours should be classic such as black, brown and camel. Last but not least try an endlessly chic trench coat, perfect for all occasions.
