Marlo Hampton

There has been a lot of negative things written & said about my diva Marlo Hampton….. where did she get her money from?… What does she do?

I simply don’t care to know the answers to those questions… I just appreciate her fabulousness. How a person lives their life is none of my business if your cool with me, I’m cool with you; plus you gotta respect a diva that has been to prison & completely turned her life around. I find her quite inspirational and I think if most people stopped hating on her they would too; to me Marlo signifies that anything is possible.

After seeing that closet of hers on Real Housewives of Atlanta, I started thinking I need me a Big Poppa… everyone seems to have one… (lol) I’ve always thought of myself as a career woman but i also love being a mother sometimes the two roles just don’t go together. In times of scheduling difficulties I do fantasise about a wealthy man taking care of all my needs, giving me a monthly budget  that allows me to do what I love & nurtures my serious Jimmy Choo addiction. Oh to dream!

Back to Marlo; this chick is serious about fashion and she wears it oh so well. I could do with out the constant label promotions; for me there is never a need to advertise brands it’s a little low-class & a tad tacky….in my opinion but, each to their own. For me either you know quality when you see it or you don’t!

WORK IT GIRL!! As Tyra B would say….. Marlo you are “FIERCE”

BabyWatch: Beyonce

Mrs S. Carter might be preggers but she isn’t letting that slow her down! Beyonce has been business as usual promoting her new perfume pulse and launching House of Dereon in London’s Selfridges. Check out her latest outfits.

In Hof D at the Selfridges launch in London.

First there was the Roberto Cavalii sequinned short dress and jacket ensemble; she certainly is a magpie if it glitters ..she gotta have it. Beyonce looks really cute showing of sexy legs in super high Louboutins…Nice!

Outfit 2 at the launch of pulse in Macys’ NY was a Lanvin dress with a fab feather hem  from their 2012 Resort collection. Lanvin,  is really working for Queen B their fabulous draping seems perfect for her already curvaceous body; the Nicholas Kirkwood shoes set it off nicely.

BabyWatch: Beyonce

The lovely Beyonce and her husband of 3 years are having a baby …”Yippee”. Beyonce confirmed rumours she was pregnant at the VMA’s in August by rubbing her belly in that oh so special way.

As one of the few celebrities that like to keep her private life private I’m sure she wanted to enjoy her news for as long as she could but you can’t hide a baby. Whilst the baby news is fabulous I’m secretly more excited about the upcoming pregnancy wardrobe… how will she dress that bump?

Here is a taster of what Queen B has in store for us …  she wore the purple sequinned tuxedo jacket, white shirt and black trousers from Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2011 collection and being pregnant hasn’t changed her taste for super high heels.

On the red carpet she looked striking and elegant in a beautifully draped orange, silk, one-shoulder dress from Lanvin Fall 2011 collection; balancing the strong dress colour with  accessories from Lorraine Schwartz.

Beyonce kept her makeup understated with a peachy natural look

I must say I don’t always personally like B’s outfit choices but she does her thing and her pregnancy style promises to be anything but boring.

How to balance a pear shaped/ bottom heavy figure

Balance Figure with Colour, Fitted Pieces

You can wear a fitted suit, even with a slim skirt, if you are bottom heavy. Just remember:

·         Keep the line long by using all one colour with slim-cut pieces. It elongates and slims the figure.

·         Choose fitted jackets that end well above your widest point.

·         Wear a top or jacket with structured shoulders, puffy sleeves,

·         Rely on a form-fitting, but never tight, skirt in a non-clingy fabric.

Think Fit and Flare

One of the classic recommendations for the bottom-heavy figure is the full skirt. It’s still a great option, especially for dresses. How to make the full skirt work:

·         Go for a fit and flare silhouette. Draw attention to the waist with a belt, gathers, band or other feature. The skirt should flare out from the fitted waist.

·         Take the fit and flare silhouette one step further by opting for a strapless dress. You’ll get the benefit of showing off your shoulders, while concealing your hips. Also, the strong line of bare shoulders helps balance a wider bottom half.

Find Jeans that flatter

You can look great in jeans. The key is to choose leg openings and back pockets to fit your figure. Here’s how:

·         Boot cut leg openings are the most flattering jean legs of all. The slight flare balances out wider hips and fuller thighs.

·         Opt for a darker wash jean for the most slimming look.

·         Five-pocket styling looks best, but you’ll want to avoid excessive embellishment

·         The longer the jeans, the longer (and thinner) your legs look. Wear boot cut jeans as long as you possibly can without having them bunch up around your legs. If you can stand them, pair jeans with high heels for a super-flattering look.

Put Prints on Your Smallest Feature

Another way to balance the bottom-heavy figure is to accentuate your top half with prints. Vertical stripes, menswear checks or plaids, floral and polka dots are all great options.

Wear a solid pant or skirt and keep jackets short (never let a jacket end right at the widest point of your hips).

·         Go for a Raised Waist

·         If your natural waistline is thick, along with full hips and thighs, one of your best options in dresses is the empire-waist (raised waist) dress.

With this silhouette, the focus is shifted to only the top third of your body because the waist falls right below the bust line. This look works best with pear-shaped women who are small-busted.

Pick a Pretty Neckline

You don’t need a plunging V-neck or tons of cleavage to pull this off. What you do need is added interest such as a sweetheart neckline, a halter, a knotted front — to draw attention up and towards your face.

Light on Top, Dark on Bottom

As basic as it sounds, the best way to use colour to camouflage/highlight figure areas is to use contrasts.  The black bottom with white top works like a dream: it brings the eye up to the lightest hue and the top half of the body.

Taraji …The Karate Kid premiere

Dress: Naeem Khan

The lovely Taraji P Henson hit the red carpet on Monday night for the new Karate kid movie wearing this stunning bead/mirror embellished sheath dress. The reflective black and gold dress by Naeem Khan (Fall 2010) was paired some strappy black heels by Rene Caovilla  and pewter/metallic nail polish. I’m loving her decision to leave the accessories at home as the dress is a statement piece all on its own!

Judith Leiber clutch

My favourite part of the whole look is this black beaded clutch.

In recent times Taraji has been rocking the red carpet pretty hard and looking great doing it. I love the overall look she has here the makeup and hair are understated with a bit of fun added… the pink lipstick the wave to the asymmetrical bob.

I’m not usually a fan of this tone of pink lipstick but it really suits her, I’m feeling the nude eyeshadow with the heavy liner… she is also rocking the makeup product of the moment …  false lashes (im not keen on them)

Rihanna .. Elle magazine

July 2010

Rocking  her fame on the Elle magazine July 2010 issue cover shoot; … not sure when they actually shot this but as you probably know by now Rihanna has changed her hair already.

Here is some back stage action:

As everyone knows Rihanna has been killing us with her cutting edge high fashion style for the past 2-3 years, Elle keep that edgy look whilst making it a little vintage.

Most of the looks are safari inspired although they opted for  bright sparkles on the cover; ..  they get very wild inside with the help of designers from Lanvin & Cartier to Cavalli & Phillip Lim.

In the interview she talks about her favourite designers and a little about her love life … read more from the Elle interview below:

On Rated R album: “I wanted pictures that represented strength and fearlessness but still femininity—a strong woman who can be vulnerable. Every woman is made up of vulnerability and strength; no matter what race you are, no matter what you’ve been through in your life. Every woman has that strength that is undeniable, but we also have really big hearts. It’s just us.”

On Matt Kemp: “I have a boyfriend. I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family.”

On popstardom : “If I were in Barbados still, I would be dreaming about this. I asked for it, and I love it, so why am I complaining? My first day on tour, I remember saying ‘I’m so tired—this is so much.’ Then I thought, What the fuck? You asked for this—you prayed to God to tour like Madonna.”

On designers she admires: “It’s clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci—that was a big deal. I respect designers who aren’t afraid to go outside the box. I went to a JeanPaul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited. I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure.”

On Chris Brown: “A year ago, I was very confused. Because he was my best friend. All of a sudden, one night changed our whole lives—not only our friendship, but our lives. I wanted to wake up one day and just not have that pain anymore. I wanted to be with him again or get over him—it was either-or. I just didn’t want to feel to feel the pain, the confusion.”

Monica… Game 3 of NBA Finals

One of my favourite recording artists Monica sang the American National Anthem at last nights 2010 NBA  Finals (before game 3) between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics; the event was held at TD garden in Boston Massachusetts. Lakers won Game 3 over Celtics with a total score of 91-84; the score is currently 2-1 in the best of 7 games to be played during the NBA Finals in favour of the Los Angeles Lakers.       … Can Lakers win again?

… Any way back to Monica!

She wore skin-tight white pants and a warm creamy coloured jacket with some very sparkly christian louboutin heels.

Monica’s hair & makeup are flawless as always but although im not hating the outfit…. it could have been better. For me, Monica misses the style mark more often than not;… I just wish she made the most of her gorgeous figure… this outfit makes her very unbalanced it would have looked better with a more fitted jacket in order to give her a shape. I don’t want to be mean because I adore Monica’s music and I’ve been a massive fan of hers since “Miss Thang” but honestly she needs a stylist… Just to point her in the right direction.

Love the shoes though!

Here is a look at the performance… What do you think?
